One more of my Mom's Favorite Poems:

TREE
by Joyce Kilmer  (1886-1918)

I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is pressed
Against the earth's sweet flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in Summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by people like me,
But only God can make a tree.

I had to smile last night when I remembered the time Christian and I dropped Mom off at work and as I was driving away Christian looked out the back window and said "Gran I chasing the car"!!!!!!!

I stopped and found Mom out of breath saying " I grabbed YOUR purse AND my purse!"    Did she think she could catch the car????   Well.....I bet she would not have stoped till she did!  She had MY purse!

She got a EXTRA hug from Chris!

Mom

I will always have the wonderful memories of Christmas when Mark, Terry and I were young all thanks to you and Dad.

I remember how you always managed to get everything we asked Santa for and also knew what we would like.

You even managed to be the one searching for gifts that cousins and other kids wanted from Santa that their parents could not find.

You always went out of your way to make EVERYONE happy all your life.

So many people Love and miss you!

I know you are watching down on us with Love also.

Kristin
My greatest memory was going over to Grans house every summer and having picnics in the living room. Of course I always wanted to have buttered noodles and chicken. =) Then we would sit up and watch Tales from the Crypt. Although I never really watched it because I was to busy hiding my head in a pillow because the crypt keeper scared me.
I BELIEVE IN ANGELS!!

Close to Us
"When those we love
have left this earth,
we still can feel them near ~
we'll see a picture, hear a song,
and it's just like they are here.
And when we call upon our faith ,
when we believe and trust,
we know the ones
we care about
are always close to us."

After  couple weeks of not being able to sleep after Mom Died I decided to start writng down my thoughts when I would wake up in the middle of the night and I have kept a little book with them.  It was great thearapy and every now and then  I still have to do this.  It is just questions I have and things I want to say.

A couple nights ago I grabbed the paper and pencil in the middle of the night and started jotting. When I read it later I realized I do not think this one is one of my thoughts but maybe a thought from my Mom not just for me but for anyone that has lost a Mom or even a Dad.

I used to take Mom shopping and it never failed that when I got Mom home and I  was ready to leave she would say " I am not really a big pain to shop with am I Kar" ?   I always had to reassure her she was not a burden to shop with and she would tell me how "Precious" I was.

I miss being 'Precious"

Moms favorite Church song
On Eagles Wings
Written by Michael Joncas
Isaiah 40:31
"But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run,
and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint."

You who dwell in the shelter of the Lord,
Who abide in His shadow for life,
Say to the Lord, "My Refuge,
My Rock in Whom I trust."

            Refrain
And He will raise you up on eagle's wings,
Bear you on the breath of dawn,
Make you to shine like the sun,
And hold you in the palm of His Hand.

The snare of the fowler will never capture you,
          And famine will bring you no fear;
          Under His Wings your refuge,
          His faithfulness your shield.

            Refrain
And He will raise you up on eagle's wings,
Bear you on the breath of dawn,
Make you to shine like the sun,
And hold you in the palm of His Hand.

You need not fear the terror of the night,
Nor the arrow that flies by day,
          Though thousands fall about you,
Near you it shall not come.

            Refrain
And He will raise you up on eagle's wings,
Bear you on the breath of dawn,
Make you to shine like the sun,
And hold you in the palm of His Hand.

For to His angels He's given a command,
To guard you in all of your ways,
Upon their hands they will bear you up,
Lest you dash your foot against a stone.

            Refrain
And He will raise you up on eagle's wings,
Bear you on the breath of dawn,
Make you to shine like the sun,
And hold you in the palm of His Hand.
And hold you in the palm of His Hand.

MOMS FAVORITE POEM

Foot Prints in the Sand

One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was
walking along the beach with the Lord. Across the
sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene, he
noticed two sets of footprints in the sand: one
belonging to him, and the other to the Lord. When
the last scene of his life flashed before him, he
looked back at the footprints in the sand. He
noticed that many times along the path of his life
there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed
that it happened at the very lowest and saddest
times in his life. This really bothered him and he
questioned the Lord about it. "Lord, You said that
once I decided to follow you, You'd walk with me all
the way. But I have noticed that during the most
troublesome times in my life, there is only one set
of footprints. I don't understand why when I needed
you most you would leave me." The Lord replied,
"My son, My precious child, I love you and I would
never leave you. During your times of trial and
suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it
was then that I Carried You."

FUNNY MEMORIES

Once Mom sat across from me and Chris in a restaurant and bit into s cherry tomato from her salad and it squirt  all the way across the table at me.  We laughed so hard

--------------------------------------------------------

When Chris was young we were at a fast food restaurant with Mom, she never had been to one and as we left she threw the entire tray in the trash.  As soon as she did and saw my face she realized what she had done.   We laughed over and over about this, even years later.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Once I had to give my Mom a ride to work  and Chris and I were driving away from dropping her off at the factory when Chris said "Granny is chasing the car"!  I looked in the rear view mirror and sure enough there was Mom running down the middle of the road chasing the car (pretty fast).   I stopped and when she got to the car said  "  I am so sorry!  I grabbed Your purse instead of mine! "We laughed so many times over this one.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I remember picking Mom up to go Christmas shopping one day and she had a perfectly round red circles on each of her cheeks.   Looking closer I could tell it was lipstick so I asked what was up with the red circles and she said she used lipstick for blush and forgot to rub it in.  We laughed so hard.

Mom first Concert

Mom always like Johnny Mathis and I was thrilled when he came to town at Pine Knob so I could take her.

She was thrilled!

I had to get a seat near the bottom of the hill becasue she could not climb the hill (although she let me know she could have done it with no problem) and so she could see.

I know she could not have seen very much but she talked about it untill her death that I took her to see Johnny Mathis and Henry Mancinni.

She was so cute trying to sit there without slideing down and holding so tight onto her purse.  She bobbed her head up and down and softly sang to the songs she loved.   I can still picture the smile on her face it never left until the concert was over.   I bet it even lasted a few days after that.  She could not wait until morning to call her friends and Uncle Gary to tell them about it.

Moms goes to a Play

It was a converstion for months after Mom and Jenny and I went to see the Play Hairspray.

We went to what Mom called a "way to expensive" restaurant and then to see the play.   We laughed so hard and she talked about every scene for months.  She would call me every so often to laugh about something she remembered about it.

I am so glad to have had this day with her.
